The more project information we have at the beginning, the easier it is to avoid hardware or integration mismatches later.

Card Dispensers & Card Handling

Common questions about card dispensing, collection, recycling, card compatibility and host system integration.

A card dispenser stores physical cards and automatically issues them under software control. It is commonly used for hotel key cards, membership cards, access cards, ticket cards and other automated card-issuing applications.

Dispensing issues a stored card to the user. Collection accepts or retracts a card into a separate collection area. Recycling returns collected cards to reusable storage so they can be issued again.

A recycling model is useful when returned cards need to be reused, such as hotel key card return and reissue. If cards only need to be issued and collected separately, a non-recycling configuration is usually simpler.

For hotel key card return and reissue applications, see the SNR-K750L Card Dispenser & Recycler.

Many of our card handling products are designed for standard CR80 / ID-1 cards. However, supported thickness, material and surface condition vary by model and should be confirmed before selection.

Yes. Selected models can dispense RFID cards and can also work with compatible RFID readers or encoders when card reading or writing is required.

Selected models support magnetic stripe and/or contact IC card applications. If reading or writing is required, the correct card reader/writer configuration must be selected.

For applications requiring card dispensing together with magnetic stripe, IC and RFID processing, see the SNR-CD212-M8.

A card dispenser stores and moves physical cards. A card reader/writer reads or writes card data. Depending on the application, these functions can be integrated into one card-processing system.

Selected card handling mechanisms can position a card at an internal reader or third-party encoder. The exact positioning and workflow depend on the model and integration design.

Many of our card handling devices use RS232 communication. The host application sends commands according to the corresponding communication protocol or SDK to control card movement and retrieve device status.

No. RS232 and TCP/IP are different communication methods. If a project requires network-based control, an additional host controller or communication architecture may be required.

Yes, provided the Android system has a suitable serial communication interface or an intermediate controller is used. The appropriate architecture depends on the Android hardware platform, available interfaces and card dispenser model.

Selected card handling devices support card retraction or collection. The exact behavior depends on the hardware model and host software workflow.

Selected card dispenser models are available with different hopper capacities. Please confirm the required capacity when selecting the product.

Yes. We recommend compatibility testing when using non-standard cards, special materials, unusual thicknesses or cards with specific surface characteristics.

Hotel Key Card Integration

Common questions about hotel key card dispensing, RFID encoding, hotel lock encoders and self check-in kiosk integration.

Yes. Our card handling products can be integrated into hotel front-desk terminals and self check-in kiosks for room key card dispensing, collection and, depending on the selected configuration, card recycling.

The card dispenser mainly handles card storage and movement. Hotel room-key encoding is normally performed by the encoder associated with the hotel’s electronic lock system.

During operation, the dispenser moves the card to the encoding position, while the hotel lock encoder performs the actual room-key writing.

Using the same RFID frequency or card technology does not guarantee compatibility. Different hotel lock systems may use different data structures, security keys and encoding protocols.

For this reason, we generally recommend using the encoder approved or supplied for the actual hotel lock system.

Not necessarily. A third-party reader/writer may support the same MIFARE card technology but still be unable to create a valid room key for a particular hotel lock system.

A general-purpose RFID reader is suitable only when its compatibility with the required card data and encoding process has been confirmed.

Learn more → Hotel Key Card Encoder Integration

Yes. Selected card dispenser solutions provide mounting space or mechanical arrangements for integrating compact third-party hotel lock encoders.

Before integration, we recommend confirming the encoder dimensions, antenna position, communication interface and required card-to-antenna distance.

For desktop hotel key card applications, see the SNR-CD760 Desktop Key Card Dispenser.

A typical workflow is:

PMS / Kiosk Software → Move Card to Encoding Position → Hotel Lock Encoder Writes Room Key → Verify Result → Issue Card

The kiosk application coordinates the card dispenser and hotel lock encoder. If encoding fails, the system can handle the card according to the configured card collection or recycling workflow.

Explore solution → Hotel Self Check-in

Normally, no. The kiosk or host application manages the overall workflow.

The application communicates with the card dispenser for card movement and separately uses the PMS and hotel lock system interfaces required for reservation, room assignment and key encoding.

Integration may be possible by using the appropriate encoder and software interface supported by the hotel lock system. Compatibility must be confirmed based on the exact lock system, encoder model and integration method.

The required distance depends on the encoder, antenna design and card type. Hotel key card encoding normally requires close-range coupling, so the actual encoder and card should be tested at the intended mounting distance before the mechanical structure is finalized.

Yes, when the selected card handling hardware supports recycling and the hotel workflow allows returned cards to be re-encoded and reissued.

For applications that do not require card reuse, a standard dispensing and collection configuration may be more suitable.

Kiosk & Panel Printers

Common questions about kiosk printer selection, panel printers, presenters, paper handling, software integration and outdoor kiosk applications.

A kiosk printer is normally installed inside the kiosk cabinet and offers greater flexibility for paper handling and system integration. A panel printer mounts directly through the equipment panel and provides a compact and accessible printing solution.

A presenter manages the printed receipt or ticket after printing and cutting, controlling how the document is delivered to the user.

Presenter-equipped printers are particularly useful in unattended applications where controlled paper delivery is required.

A presenter is useful when controlled receipt delivery is important, especially in unattended kiosks where the printer needs to manage the printed document before the user takes it.

For applications requiring controlled receipt presentation, see the SNR-KP802-VX 80mm Presenter Kiosk Printer.

A presenter controls how the printed receipt is delivered to the user. Retraction is an additional function that allows an uncollected receipt to be pulled back into the kiosk.

A printer with a presenter does not automatically mean that it supports receipt retraction.

A panel printer is suitable when installation space is limited and the printer needs to be mounted directly on the equipment panel with convenient access for paper loading and maintenance.

A 58mm printer provides a more compact installation, while an 80mm printer offers greater printable width for receipts, tickets and transaction information.

The final choice should consider available space, receipt layout and application requirements.

Available interfaces depend on the model and may include USB, RS232 and other options. Please check the selected product configuration before ordering.

Many models support automatic cutting. Cutter configuration, cutting method and paper handling functions vary by model and should be confirmed during product selection.

Yes. Compatible thermal printer models have software resources available for Windows, Android and Linux. Please check the compatible model list in our Download Center and SDK & API section.

Yes. Printer tools are available for compatible models to verify communication, printing and basic device operation before application integration.

Roll-paper printers are widely used for receipts and general kiosk printing. Fan-fold printers are more suitable for applications using folded, pre-printed or ticket-specific media.

The correct printer should be selected according to the actual media specification and ticket workflow.

For fan-fold ticket applications, see the SNR-KP83H Fan-fold Thermal Ticket Printer.

Yes, selected printers can be integrated into outdoor kiosks, but the complete kiosk enclosure must provide suitable protection against rain, dust, temperature and humidity.

Special attention should be given to the exposed paper outlet and the surrounding enclosure design.

The required protection depends on the project. Because paper must physically exit the printer, the outlet cannot normally remain completely sealed during operation.

For demanding outdoor environments, recessed installation, enclosure protection or a suitable rain hood may be required around the paper outlet.

Card Readers

Common questions about motorized card readers, supported card technologies and card reader integration in self-service terminals.

Depending on the model, our card reader/writer products can support magnetic stripe cards, contact IC cards and contactless RFID cards. The required card technology and read/write functions should be confirmed before selecting a model.

A motorized card reader automatically moves an inserted card into a controlled position for reading or writing and then returns, ejects or retains the card according to the system workflow.

A motorized card reader is suitable for unattended terminals that require controlled card positioning, automatic card movement, card retention or multi-step reading and writing processes.

Yes, selected multi-technology models can support several card technologies in one mechanism. The required magnetic tracks, IC card standard, RFID technology and read/write functions should be confirmed for the project.

See the SNR-MR800 Motorized Multi-Card Reader/Writer for multi-technology card processing applications.

Applications & Kiosk Integration

Common questions about selecting and integrating hardware for hotel, parking, ticketing, visitor management and other self-service applications.

A typical hotel self check-in kiosk may include a touchscreen computer, hotel key card dispenser, hotel lock encoder, receipt printer, QR/barcode scanner and ID or passport reader.

Payment, PIN pad and other modules can be added according to the hotel’s check-in workflow and system requirements.

Explore solution → Hotel Self Check-in

Depending on the application, a parking kiosk may include a receipt or ticket printer, QR/barcode scanner, card reader, payment device, industrial computer and other peripherals.

The hardware configuration should be selected according to the parking software, payment workflow and required user operations.

Explore solution → Parking System

The selection depends on ticket width, media type, printing speed, cutter requirements, paper capacity and how the ticket should be delivered to the user.

Roll-paper kiosk printers and fan-fold ticket printers are suitable for different ticketing workflows.

Explore solution → Ticketing System

Yes. Card dispensers can automatically issue physical cards for visitor management, membership, access control and similar applications.

If card data also needs to be written during issuance, a compatible card reader/writer or encoder should be included in the system.
